Who We Are
Bold Ideas Turned into Reality
A student-led organization at Austin Community College focused on environmental justice, sustainability education, and community action.

The Sustainability Club exists to connect students to real-world climate solutions, civic leadership, and hands-on opportunities that improve both our campuses and our communities.
We started as a cleanup crew. That's still in our bones — 14+ campus and creek cleanups, adopt-a-street and adopt-a-river partnerships, and a community garden at Highland that feeds students directly. But over the last two years the work has grown past picking up trash, because the decisions that actually move emissions get made in council chambers and budget hearings.
So we do both. We research the City of Austin's climate commitments through the Open Government Partnership and publish what we find. We convene the Central Texas Climate Summit, which brought 100+ students, nonprofit leaders, and policymakers together in its first year. We run the Riverbat Exchange, a student-to-student platform for sharing rides, food, and supplies across campuses. And we build the working groups that keep all of it moving between events.
You do not need a background in environmental science, a major that sounds related, or any experience at all. Most of what we do is learned by showing up. Students from every campus and every program are welcome, and the fastest way in is the newsletter or a DM on Instagram.
